In response to the given specific site Dyson created a live work that utilized the context of the swimming pool to further explore her relationship to the sea. The audience took their seats at the pool side, whilst swimmers went about their normal exercise.

The artist stood in front, using a brass boating megaphone to repeat the words ‘tanne, tanne… ‘(come back come back).

She then donned a red hat and entered the water to pull a swathe of red fabric across the pool – a flag, a carpet, a seaweed, a stain.

The fabric becomes heavy when wet and sits just under the water as the artist struggles in a controlled swim backwards. She ties the fabric taught and exits the water.

The action concludes as she signals with her arms, a strobe light flashing as she becomes a human lighthouse – ‘come back come back’.
