Take the pebble from the beach.

Put your tongue against it to taste the salt.

Take the stone from the drive.

Smell it for a residue of petrol.

Take the rock from the furrow.

Rub it with your fingers to remove the soil.

The audience travels by bus, visiting remarkable Lincolnshire sites. Whilst they journey a woman works. She applies gold leaf to the isle of the bus. People have to negotiate around her as they get on and off, they watch and comment, or look away across the moving landscape. Each traveler has a bag of gifts – an orange, a stone, a fish-hook, a clove berry, and a set of cards. The cards are poems, hints, memories of journeying, of reading landscapes of mapping roads. The people can share these gifts with other travelers or keep them to themselves.
